Which CertainTeed Models This Applies To

CertainTeed’s residential lines break into three tiers, and the part you need depends on which shingle was originally installed. Landmark, the workhorse architectural shingle, uses a specific 12-inch ridge cap and a perforated starter strip that must align with the shingle’s 39 3/8-inch exposure. Landmark Pro and Landmark Premium step up the thickness and wind rating, but the fastening pattern changes, so the ridge vent and cap must match the higher-profile build. Highland Slate and Grand Manor, the designer lines, use proprietary accessory pieces that are not interchangeable with standard Landmark components.

To identify your shingle, check the bundle wrapper if you have it, or look for the manufacturing date stamp on the back of an exposed shingle. The stamp includes the plant code and the ASTM rating. If your roof was installed between 2005 and 2015, there’s a good chance it’s Landmark or Presidential Shake. Signs Your CertainTeed Roofing Is Failing

• Granule loss in the gutters. CertainTeed’s ceramic granule coating protects the asphalt core from UV. When you find coarse, sand-like buildup in downspouts, the shingle is shedding its armor. In Cupertino’s 260-plus sunny days per year, this accelerates once it starts.
